Sharkbyte Keycard - Quest 64

The SharkByte Keycards were yet another batch of products made by InterAct Accessories, using the GameShark brand to promote a range of controllerpaks with game saves preloaded.

These keycards (or in N64 terms, controllerpaks) were available both for the PlayStation and the Nintendo64, the N64 however only got a few of these, known to exist is one preloaded with Quest64 (SV650) saves which seems to be the most common one, and one with Mortak Kombat 4 (SV652) saves which is a lot rarer. Both were released in 1998.

I few weeks ago I managed to snag a brand new "old stock" copy of the Quest 64 edition, which features 16 saves on a 256k controllerpak.

Back in the day the SharkByte controllerpaks retailed for $19.99 and long with the obvious box (packaging), the controllerpak itself and some warranty and registration information, InterAct also supplied the instructions
card shown below, displaying the details for each save game.

The back of the card instructed people to use a different controllerpak for their own save games. The saves on the SharkByte can be erased, but then they'd be gone forever.

If you've been unfortunate enough to erase your SharkByte Quest64 saves, I am happy to present you with a backup copy, made with a DexDrive.

After the bankruptcy of InterAct in 2002, MatCats took over the GameShark brand and released several more SharkBytes for the Playstation.
