Elite Boy 120 in 1 Supreme Series

If you know me, it's probably no secret that I have a soft spot for anything unlicensed... and "achemm..." pirate carts. Why? well pirate stuff comes in odd shapes and sizes, combinations you do not usually see, glossy labels that tries to fool you into buying "the cat in the bag". Sure, some pirate stuff actually delivers what it promises, but most definitely doesn't. Over the years I have collected a quite significant number of gameboy pirates and I have, for a very long time, wanted to do something like this - expose those carts that does not deliver, in my opinion, and praise the pirates that gives you what you paid for.

Unfortunately I had not, until now, been able to capture (menu) footage from the Gamerboy pirate carts, but thanks to a device called "GB Interceptor", created by Sebastian Staacks, I now have the ability to do so. So here we go, we will start out with a cart from the top shelf, or so it claims, as it's using both Elite and Supreme in it's title - the Elite Boy 120 in 1 Supreme Series cartidge.

First off, let's have a look at the menu.

The menu used on this cartridge is pretty typical for a multicart, nothing special, what varies the most is how you operate the menu. Use d-pad up, down or right to select a game, using right will take you to the next page, but for some reason you can't use left to go back a page, I am sure that would not have been too difficult to implement? By pressing start, you will, start the selected game :-)

Typically pirate carts boasts about having a high number of games, and this one is in the high end with 120 games - I highly doubt that it will provide you with that many. Actually, look closer at menu entry #30. As far as I know there is no Gameboy game called "Real Fighter". Let's have a look at the games I've found on the cart.

That totals to 29 unique titles on the cartridge, at #30 "Real Fighter" the cartridge just repeats the games. But wait you might say? 29 does not add up to 120? well, at #117 the menu just starts over with "Real fighter".

While the game includes a lot of typical multicart titles, like Motocross Maniacs, Klax, Alleyway and Battle City.

There are a few games on this cart that doesn't show up on multicarts as often as others, like Super Mario Kand 3, Robocop Vs. Terminator and two titles on this cart I don't recall having seen before- being Pop Up and Migrain.

All in all the Elite Boy 120 in 1 is not too bad, it has a wide variety of game types, it features a "LH5164AN-10L" SRAM chip for saving (Super Mario Land 3?), but it far from delivers on its promise of 120 games :-)

Finally, this cart seems to be a late era release as it includes Junglebook which was released in 1994.
