I may be asking for a good share of flaming for saying the SNES sucked, but to be honest it never really caught my attention. What does catch my attention though is the world of pirated
crap that has been released over the years, even for the Super Nintendo.
So a few weeks back I was browsing a sales thread over at the assemblergames.com website where a guy, among other things, was selling a Super Famicom multicart for 10 euros. I quickly
jumped to purchasing the cart, not really expecting much else than the usual SFC multicart crap with the same few games repeated over and over. What was odd about this one though is that
it didn't seem to share any info about what it included other than "20" and some korean text, hrmmm.
Well the cart arrived yesterday with a few days of delay, thank you danish customs! and as I had received retrousb.com's christmas SNES cart a few days earlier, my SNES was already hooked up and
ready to get gaming.
For some reason I selected one of the last games on the nice menu, compared to other SNES multicarts, and it turned out to be no other than Donkey Kong Jr., but with improved music,
how strange. After checking out all games on the cart, 19 of 20 turned out to be old NES games.
So this "SNES multicart" turned out to contain 19 NES games, being...
- Spartan X
- Super Mario Bros.
- Antartic Adventure
- Twinbee
- Battle City
- Circus Charlie
- Galaga
- Yie Ar Kung Fu
- Star Force
- Road Fighter
- Pinball
- Bomberman
- Arkanoid
- Balloon Fight
- Donkey Kong
- Donkey Kong 3
- Donkey Kong Jr.
- Mario Bros.
- Popeye
One game stood out from the rest though, some sort of Christmas themed Tetris clone that I can't determine wether it's a homebrew or an actual released game. My guess falls on the latter
of the categories mentioned.
With that said, the game is well made and playable... no offence to homevbrewers though, hah!
The NES games all seem to have altered, snes like, music playing. It makes me wonder if the games are running off some sort of emulator attached to each game? But would the SNES be powerful enough to run an NES emulator?
For the tech interested out there I've decided to include a picture of the PCB, and there are no globtops, whoa!
Well that's about it, thanks for reading.
